Our Goal

At Don’t Be Chy Boutique, our goal is simple: exceptional customer service paired with professional, affordable services. From the moment you walk in, we focus on quality work, honest consultations, and an experience that keeps clients coming back.

Where It All Began

Don’t Be Chy started as Don't Be Chy Photography and grew to add the Boutique. The Boutique was founded in Sexsmith, Alberta and opened its doors in August of 2020. What started as a small-town salon has grown into a destination for clients from Sexsmith, Grande Prairie, and surrounding communities. Our growth hasn’t happened by accident. It’s the result of a strong reputation, consistent results, and clients who are willing to make the drive for quality hair and beauty services they can trust.

What We Offer

Don’t Be Chy Boutique is a full-service hair salon offering cuts, color, blonding, and styling, along with a carefully curated retail space. In addition to hair services, the Boutique is proud to be home to trusted beauty professionals including Lashes by Alanna, Buffed & Bare Wax Co., and Northern Lights Dental Hygiene, offering lashes, waxing, tooth gems and whitening all under one roof.

Behind the scenes, our photography business also operates out of the Boutique, Although we specialize in local and destination weddings, we do offer everything from boudoir, family, grad and maternity to corporate photography.

Who We Are

Don’t Be Chy Boutique is owned and operated by Chyanne and Darryl Smith, alongside their daughters Brea and Kenna, who make up the original Don’t Be Chy team. While the business has grown over the years, our focus remains the same: professional services, honest pricing, and a welcoming atmosphere that makes the drive from Grande Prairie worth it.

Meet the Team

Our talented team of stylists brings experience, personality, and passion to the salon every day. From seasoned professionals to apprentices growing their craft, each stylist plays an important role in creating the Don’t Be Chy experience. We invite you to get to know the women behind the chair and find the stylist that’s right for you.

Tori

A farm girl, momma, and seasoned stylist with over six years behind the chair. After spending time in some of Grande Prairie’s bigger salons, she brought her talent home to the Boutique. She’s known for her love of blondes and creating color that grows out with grace, because great hair should look just as good weeks later as it does on day one.

Taryn

Sometimes known as the sassy little "sister" of the Boutique. While she may not have many years behind the chair just yet, her hands-on training with our team has helped her grow her skills quickly during her time here. She loves all things color and is always excited to learn and try new techniques, although she might pass on the 90’s-inspired color trends.

Katelyn

Our apprentice and is currently finishing up her hours after completing her schooling. She’s the bubbly, sweet one in the Boutique and is always bringing good energy to the salon. Katelyn loves creating classic updos as well as styles that are fun and a little out of the box, and no, not the kind you find at the drug store.

Chyanne

The OG,  With over 20 years of experience in the salon industry and, while she is mostly retired from behind the chair, she remains very involved day to day. You’ll often find her on the salon floor helping the girls with tips, tricks, and support, or working behind the scenes on operations and the photography business. And if she’s not in the salon, or out taking photos you may just find her in Osoyoos at our ladies’ clothing store Stike the Pose.
